The struggle is real
Why is starting over the most challenging opponent?
So many times this week I was faced with people struggling to start again.
Getting back into routine after an injury
Trusting a team member to try again
Expecting a vendor to get it right this time
Getting a leadership team to try the project — for the fourth time
In every case, the odds seem stacked against them.
I am not an expert in recovery, but I am experienced in seeing the possibility. I get the calls from clients at their wits end with a marketing problem, and I can fix it.
So when I face the same challenges in my own life, why does it seem so hard to just begin again?
I came up with an answer today: because we all believe that history repeats itself.
If you are a business struggling with a seemingly unsolvable issue, you just believe this problem will keep on repeating itself.
As an outside consultant, you don’t see the baggage, you see the victory.
So when you need to get moving in your own life or business — try this. Coach yourself in the third person.
What would your bestie coach say?
They would probably tell you that just because it was like that in the past, it can be different.
They would remind you of all the things you know that do not work.
And they would say: carry on, and start moving.
If you are stuck right now on a big issue, how can you apply that outside optimism to see it in a different light.
What’s your dreaded comeback that you can’t get moving on?
Tell me how you can apply a third party perspective to start getting some improvement.
